Frequently asked questions

I deleted some photos, but my free storage didn't go up.
Deleted items stay in the Recently Deleted album of the Photos app for 30 days and still take up space. To free it right away, open Photos, go to Collections › Utilities › Recently Deleted (in iOS versions before 26 the album is at the bottom of the main Photos screen), unlock the album and choose Delete All. Swiper can't do this for you, but it can remind you: turn on the reminder on the final screen or in Settings.

I deleted a photo by mistake.
Within 30 days you can get it back from Recently Deleted in the Photos app with Recover. Before you confirm, nothing is deleted: while swiping you can undo your last choice, and in the review you can unselect the items you want to keep.

I use iCloud Photos: what happens when I delete?
The item is deleted from your iCloud library, and therefore from all devices signed in to your account. If an item isn't on the device (with Optimize Storage on), iOS downloads it from iCloud to show it to you: this can take a moment.

Swiper only sees some of my photos.
You gave it access to a selection only. Use the banner on the main screen to add more, or choose Full Access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › Swiper.

I can't see my Favorites.
To be safe, Favorites are excluded. You can include them in Swiper's Settings › Include Favorites.

I'd like to keep with a left swipe.
You can switch the direction in Settings › Swipe.

I want to review items I already kept.
In Settings › Reset Reviewed Items the items you kept become unreviewed again; items marked for deletion stay marked.

I don't get the reminder.
Make sure Swiper's notifications are allowed in Settings › Notifications › Swiper. With a Focus on, notifications may be silenced.

Does Swiper find duplicate or similar photos?
No: you decide, item by item. Swiper doesn't analyze the content of your photos.

Do I need an internet connection?
No. Swiper doesn't connect to any server; iOS only uses the connection to download items from iCloud Photos that aren't on the device.
